In the 1930’s, my grandmother married her second husband Howard Willett, who had a penthouse in the Chicago Opera building. (My grandfather David White Hall I died in 1931).
We used to visit them there when I was a child. The setting was magical…art deco buildings, rooftops, light, and glamorous people. The majority in this series is inspired by those memories.
Other images in this series have a germ in the opera itself, with all it’s wild drama.
